ABOUT ME
I've started my first work experience 23 years ago, in hotels, after completing my bachelor in 'Hospitality Management'.
At a certain period, I was invited to work in the Balkans, after the Bosnia and Kosovo wars, within NATO and UN facilities, as a PX Manager (duty free shops for military staff), an outstanding experience where I was able to grow professionally.
I went back to Portugal 3 years later to work as F&B Director, at the International Airport of Lisbon, where I remain 6 years managing a total of 9 catering sites (restaurants, cafeterias and bars). But after the recession period that strike out Europe in 2009, I remained unemployed for a long period, during which I took the chance to Post-graduate in 'Company Administration Consultancy', with the goal of achieving the right administration tools and be able to fit into any organizational structure.
Then, in 2012, I was invited to go to Brazil to become an Hotel Manager, where I had the challenge to re-open a small hotel that had been closed for a long period of time, and was able to apply all my skills that I've learned not just from Uni, but also from my previous work experiences. Here I had also the chance to show my IT skills and created the hotel webpage, for promoting purposes. All was worthy, as after a few months Trip Advisor consider us one of the best hotels in the region.
After one year, I was invited to join a South Korean company, also in Brazil, to work as Operations & Finance Manager, and be part of one of the biggest Steel Making Factory built in South America, an investment over 5 billion dollars. Nevertheless, I never left the Hotel, as I was invited by the owners to remain and work as a Consultant, as appreciation for all the hard work and great results achieved as Hotel Manager. So, for a few years I managed to work for both companies at the same time. Unfortunately, by the end of 2016, my company decided not to invest more in Brazil and departed to other countries such as India and Vietnam, where labour work is more cheap and taxes are not so high. Although they've made me the invitation to go with them, I've refused and decided to try my luck in the United Kingdom.
I came to Great Britain in May 2017, and was able to start working immediately at Cambridge Assessment, an international not-for-profit organization, part of the University of Cambridge, who provides world-class qualifications and education programmes in over 170 countries. I've worked already within different business streams of the company and performed various roles such as: Marketing Project Coordinator within 'CE' team; Administrator for 'CAIE' and 'OCR'; and finally as Senior Cashier for the Group Finance Division within the Revenue team, where after 5 months I've got promoted to work as Assistant Manager. So I can say I know now the company inside out, as I've worked already in all their business streams.
Summing up, I've been fortunate to pick up an array of skills across all these different work experiences, in different areas, which allowed my accumulated knowledge be transferable to any kind of job roles.
My vast experience, performed in several sectors, in 7 different countries, makes me believe that I'm a valuable asset for any kind of company, with all personal qualifications and professional skills required, considering that I'm a pro-active, resilient and multitask person, used to work in busy teams and with multiple deadlines, with strong organizational and analytical skills, and excellent attention to detail.
Today I can proudly say that I'm a passionate and devoted worker, who believes in team work and has the right tools to help any company to achieve their goals.
"Tell me and I will forget. Show me and I will remember. Involve me and I will understand."
